The film “Dog War” is helmed by director Andrew Abrahams, who jointly produced it with Janette Warren. Lynn Rosa and Daniel E. Catullo III are associated with the production as executive producers. In a statement about the movie, Abrahams described the project as a demanding six-year journey that required maintaining impartiality to the fullest extent possible.
Abrahams stated, “One difficulty we faced was staying unobtrusive while the team worked on infiltrating these ‘farms’ and markets to save captive dogs without hindering them. Another challenge was maintaining a balanced discussion about the issue without being too forceful or preachy. Through it all, we remained alongside our subjects as they courageously put themselves at risk to improve the lives of these dogs.
The movie “Dog War” tells the story of a pair of battle-tested individuals with a deep affection for dogs, working tirelessly to dismantle the dog meat trade in South Korea. They covertly investigate and infiltrate secretive farms and markets, taking significant risks to rescue as many canines as they can. Simultaneously, the film sheds light on a nation grappling internally with this contentious issue, sparking debates about cultural diversity, societal transformation, and generational shifts. “Dog War” doesn’t offer easy solutions to these complex questions—it explores themes like animal rights versus human needs, heroism vs. vigilantism, cultural sensitivity, and the limits of our actions when it comes to protecting man’s faithful companion.
