What is Alter Boys about?

In this TV show, a band of young males recuperate in a hospital in northern Manitoba following their rescue from a forest fire that ravaged an isolated conversion therapy camp. However, they soon realize they haven’t fully escaped the ordeal as authorities probe into the program due to a casualty from the camp. The narrative focuses on these men as they ponder over the hardships of the previous summer and the unexpected beauty they encountered amidst conflict. This thought-provoking, moving, and visually stunning series highlights the power of queer bonds, friendship, and resilience.

The TV show titled “Alter Boys” was created and overseen by Lawrence, who also drew inspiration from his award-winning short film of the same name. In this production, Lawrence himself stars alongside Keishon Joseph (from “Ordinary Angels”), Justin Otto (“This is Why We Fight”), Matthew Lupu (“Don’t Even”), Dakota Nickels (“Aberdeen”), Arne MacPherson (“The Ice Road”), Gabriel Daniels (“Acting Good”) and Duncan Cox (“First Person Shooter”). Al Magee and Kyle Bornais serve as executive producers for the series, with Ryan Cooper and Farpoint Films taking on the producer roles.

This tale has always been about beauty. The Alter Boys teaches us that the ability to discover one’s love, self-expression, and sexuality is deeply connected to life itself, but it’s also a luxury to do so without fear for personal independence or security. We are excited to initiate a campaign, encouraging viewers to embark on the journey of Alter Boys with us.” – Lawrence in a statement.
