Ewan McGregor Confirms Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Ideas Being Explored by Disney

As a seasoned Star Wars fan who’s witnessed the highs and lows of this epic saga since its inception, I must say that Ewan McGregor’s confirmation about the potential return of Obi-Wan Kenobi is music to my ears! The idea of seeing more of our favorite Jedi Master in his prime, perhaps even donning the Clone Wars armor and sharing scenes with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker, sends shivers down my spine.

Ewan McGregor has brought some exciting news to Star Wars fans eagerly anticipating an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. News on a second season has been limited since the series premiered in 2022. However, it appears that progress is being made, and Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly considering another season featuring McGregor’s beloved character.

Ewan McGregor wishes Hayden Christensen’s return in Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2

At the Los Angeles Comic-Con, Ewan McGregor participated in a question-and-answer session with fans regarding the possibility of reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The actor stated that Disney and Lucasfilm are considering fresh concepts for a potential second season.

According to journalist Jamie Jirak, who was present, it was disclosed via X (previously known as Twitter), that Ewan McGregor has expressed interest in donning the Clone Wars armor and sharing additional screen time with Hayden Christensen’s character, Anakin Skywalker.

Following what McGregor had earlier expressed about desiring to be part of Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2, he shared this intention in an interview with Variety.

I’m genuinely looking forward to the possibility of continuing our story. From the cliffhanger at the end of the series to the moment Alec Guinness appears with Luke Skywalker, it seems there are more adventures yet to be shared.

With a full decade separating the conclusion of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s first season and the events of A New Hope, Lucasfilm might consider developing another prequel story featuring Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan. This potential tale could pit Obi-Wan against Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader once more or introduce the return of Obi-Wan’s arch-nemesis, Darth Maul. First introduced in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Maul was recently seen alive at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, an occurrence that takes place after the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1.

At the moment of writing, no specific story ideas for future Star Wars projects have been disclosed yet. The upcoming lineup is quite busy with series like The Mandalorian and Grogu, Andor Season 2, Skeleton Crew, Ahsoka Season 2, and many more in development. It’s uncertain if Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 will take priority over these other projects at this point.
