Evil Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter will both be a part of Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.
Under the guidance of director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble is an upcoming horror movie featuring a crossover, which takes place within the same universe as Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, titled collectively as the Distorted Childhood Universe.
In a chat with ComicBook, producer Scott Chambers shared some exciting insights into Monsters Assemble for fans of the Poohniverse. He explained that Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, and the Mad Hatter will be the primary villains in the movie, taking on the roles as its three main antagonists.
What did Scott Chambers say about Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble?
Chambers mentioned that, so far, we haven’t discussed it much, but Mary Poppins is joining our cast, and she’ll play a character who might seem a bit sinister. I expect her and Peter Pan to clash fiercely. Additionally, the Mad Hatter will be part of the story as well. I believe these three characters are going to cause quite a stir. Initially, we’re introducing Peter, followed by the other two in their respective films.
Before the release of Poohniverse in 2025, multiple movies from the Twisted Childhood Universe are set to premiere first. Among them is “Monsters Assemble,” slated for 2025. Directed by Chambers, “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” will debut on January 13, 2025. Additionally, “Bambi: The Reckoning” and “Pinocchio: Unstrung” are also planned for release in 2025.
Chambers elaborated on the Twisted Childhood Universe, stating that each movie would have a unique feel and that the film “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” is particularly grim. His intention is to evoke specific emotions towards Peter Pan by the time we reach the Poohniverse. This way, viewers will dislike him from the start. When he faces characters like Pooh, they should see Pooh as less villainous instead.
