It is common knowledge now that MindsEye failed, and recently the main actor has shared his thoughts about this development.
BARB Not Only Built A Rocket, But Also Shot Itself Down With It
As a gamer, I’ve got to say that MindsEye is turning out to be quite the headache. With game-breaking glitches and an incomplete feel, players are steaming at a whopping $60 price tag. And it wasn’t exactly a smooth takeoff either – accusations of conspiracies against Build a Rocket Boy, missing pre-release versions for testers, and the strategic withholding of gameplay footage (seems like there was some method to that madness). Now, it seems the Rocket Boys are destined for the moon: the company has already let go of several employees following the launch of what’s being called the “GTA killer”.
Currently, Alex Hernandez, the actor who gave life to the game’s main character Jacob Diaz, has shared his thoughts on the gaming experience. He demonstrates empathy towards gamers.
Gamers Understand The Pain
As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I wholeheartedly sympathize with the sentiments of gamers about the exasperation that comes from purchasing an incompletely developed game at full price. It appears to me that such a practice might jeopardize the overall success of the game.
The evidence is clear for all to see, as the game was mercilessly panned with a paltry 38 points on MetaCritic – a score that echoes the disdain of gamers worldwide. The digital landscape has a long memory; one that never forgets such disappointments.
At Least Hernandez Had Fun
Despite sharing some negative aspects of the game’s production, Hernandez also emphasizes the positive experiences he had during development. These experiences were more personal in nature and not directly related to the final product’s success. He expresses pride in the team he worked with and deeply regrets how things turned out. In his words, they were “good people who aimed to do something good,” and he admits that he enjoyed working on the game.
He demonstrates yet again that he’s an incredibly likable person by openly acknowledging that he finds it hard not to chuckle at some of the errors, particularly those linked to his own character.
In terms of the story and the cinematics, there are a couple of glitches I find amusing. Turning into some weird creature. I love that stuff.
