Back in our conversation earlier this year with CCP Games’ Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason and Community Developer Peter Farrell, also known as CCP Swift, regarding EVE Online’s 2025 roadmap, they emphasized a focus on “iteration over innovation” – that is, refining and enhancing the existing content instead of solely adding new elements. Over the past few years, the team has delivered numerous updates such as the piracy update, mining update, and EVE Vanguard-related updates, which have significantly enriched the game. The recent update can be perceived as a clear manifestation of their commitment to fine-tuning and polishing the gameplay experience.
This update introduces an intriguing twist regarding the jump points: Previously, it was relatively simple to mend jump gates without requiring an active repair vessel. However, in this latest version, jump gates can now be harmed and will necessitate a repair ship for restoration. The intention behind this change is to make traveling across the expansive reaches of EVE space more perilous. While organizations can still confidently manage jump gates within their own territory, those located outside their safe zones will require security details to protect them and repair ships on standby to ensure they operate effectively.
