In a recent post on social media, financial analyst VirtualBacon outlined seven significant forecasts about the future of cryptocurrencies up until 2025. Among these predictions, it’s suggested that Ethereum (ETH) might surpass Bitcoin (BTC) in terms of performance, while still acknowledging that Bitcoin will maintain its strong influence within the market.
Expert Predicts A New Crypto Bull Run In 2025
As Bitcoin nears the impressive $100,000 threshold following a series of steep declines in recent weeks, and with altcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) looming on the horizon, this cryptocurrency market expert is convinced that we’re still in the early stages of this crypto bull trend.
VirtualBacon raises an intriguing point: Could 2025 be the year when cryptocurrencies outperform all past records? The excitement about possible market shifts is noticeable, particularly with the bullish attitude stirred by Bitcoin’s recent price increase and the upcoming launch of altcoin ETFs.
Last year’s forecasts were reviewed by the analyst, highlighting key observations such as:
1. Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $80,000.
2. The gaming sector in cryptocurrencies saw growth and increasing popularity.
3. Former President Trump’s reemergence in politics sparked a surge in market dynamics.
As we move forward, VirtualBacon anticipates an extended period of bull market growth, likely lasting until the last quarter of 2025. This forecast is supported by the Federal Reserve’s careful management of liquidity, aiming to minimize the chances of abrupt market collapses.
It’s predicted that the chance of an economic recession will decrease to about 33%, indicating a more tranquil phase ahead. The influence of Bitcoin is expected to grow significantly, primarily due to increasing institutional interest, with spot ETFs currently holding around 5% of all existing Bitcoins.
According to VirtualBacon, while altcoins might start off slow, this “gradual pace” is considered a positive aspect, offering plenty of room for development and maturity within the crypto market.
Will Ethereum Outperform Bitcoin This Year?
As an analyst, I foresee a significant factor shaping the cryptocurrency market in 2025: the expected large-scale liquidity injections. Given the potential US debt crisis, it’s likely that the Federal Reserve will resort to quantitative easing. This monetary policy would expand their balance sheet, leading to a surge of cash into the markets.
Moreover, if gold were to be revalued significantly – from approximately $42 per ounce to around $2,000 – it would introduce additional liquidity into the market. Generally speaking, such increased liquidity tends to result in inflation, a phenomenon that has traditionally been linked with growing asset prices. This implies that cryptocurrencies might prosper in an inflationary environment.
Although some are hopeful that the US Bitcoin Reserve Act will pass in 2025, VirtualBacon expresses skepticism about its probability. The plan for the U.S. Treasury to purchase one million Bitcoins over a five-year period encounters substantial obstacles, mainly due to the challenge of gaining taxpayer approval for such a large investment.
In terms of regulations, VirtualBacon expects that laws supportive of cryptocurrency could potentially benefit altcoins, mainly due to the proposed “Fit for the 21st Century Act.
This proposed law might establish a more defined regulatory structure for cryptocurrencies, categorizing decentralized tokens such as Layer-1 blockchains as commodities under the jurisdiction of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). On the other hand, less decentralized assets would be regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
If Paul Atkins, a strong supporter of cryptocurrency, takes charge at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), it’s possible that major digital currencies will thrive. However, smaller cryptocurrency startups might encounter difficulties in adapting to this new regulatory environment, as suggested by an industry expert.
2025 looks set to see increased momentum for Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) based on altcoins like Litecoin, HBAR, XRP, and Solana. According to VirtualBacon, these cryptocurrencies could soon become available through ETFs due to their distinctive qualities and upcoming legal decisions.
Given that Ethereum ETFs are currently attracting institutional attention, it’s plausible that a similar trend might emerge for these alternative coins, thereby speeding up the rate at which institutions embrace cryptocurrencies as an investment option.
It’s intriguing to consider that Ethereum might surpass Bitcoin next year, possibly delivering double the returns of Bitcoin by 2025.
As more institutional investors are choosing Ethereum (ETH) over Bitcoin (BTC) lately, and considering that Ethereum has historically performed better during the first half of the year, it seems likely that the Ethereum network will experience substantial expansion.
According to VirtualBacon’s predictions, the price of Bitcoin might reach around $200,000 by the end of the year. Similarly, Ethereum could potentially hit $14,000 under similar circumstances. These figures are quite high but are seen as achievable due to anticipated increased liquidity and institutional backing.
Currently, Bitcoin (BTC) stands at approximately $95,840 and has seen an increase of more than 4% within the past day. In a similar trend, Ethereum (ETH) is being traded at around $3,200, experiencing gains of almost 6% in the same time span.
