John Leguizamo, in a recent revelation, shared some fresh insights about a potential upcoming development for Encanto 2, shedding light on possible elements that the follow-up to last year’s popular Disney musical might include.
What is the latest Encanto 2 update?
In a recent interview with People at the premiere of Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway, Leguizamo – the actor who portrayed Bruno in the initial film – expressed his desire for a sequel. He playfully suggested that if there were to be one, he’d prefer it to center around his character, as Bruno was not extensively discussed in the original movie.
Leguizamo playfully mentioned he’s eagerly anticipating Encanto 2, as conversations often revolve around Bruno, and jokingly said he’s been inquiring daily about its release. He added that Disney is brainstorming the plot for the sequel.
Although Disney hasn’t officially confirmed an Encanto 2 as of now, it seems quite unexpected if they won’t produce one eventually. The film was a huge hit when it premiered in 2021, earning over $260 million at the box office and garnering even more popularity outside of theaters, with its merchandise becoming extremely popular too.

Not only did the movie’s soundtrack achieve great success, but “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” broke records by holding the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 for the longest time ever. Additionally, Disney has revealed plans to bring the enchanting world of Encanto into reality with a theme park attraction set to open in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2027.
