But here’s something unexpected: for close to three years now, this Grammy-nominated singer has found a unique home on wheels – living in my car.

On March 11, 2025, a video was posted by Dawn Robinson where she explained the reason behind her decision to live in her car. “For the last three years or so,” she confided in her followers, “I’ve been living in my car.

Last year, Robinson found herself residing in her vehicle because of a string of personal hardships. Previously, she had been dwelling with her family in Las Vegas; however, the relationship deteriorated significantly due to escalating familial disputes. As Robinson put it, “I adore my mother, but she grew increasingly angry, and much of her anger was directed towards me.

Following her departure from her family’s house, Robinson was advised by her previous manager to relocate to Los Angeles. Initially, he offered her a place to live, but unfortunately, this agreement didn’t work out, causing her to reside in a hotel for approximately eight months.

Due to the unpredictability of her current residence and the strain caused by depending on others, she found herself seeking out different housing solutions. Stumbling upon the notion of “living in a car,” she instantly became intrigued by this unique concept.

Initially intended as a short-term arrangement, it eventually transformed into a preferred way of living for her. She was captivated by the sight of a group of individuals who reside in their vans, van life, cars, or RVs. “These people,” she thought to herself, “I could do that too!” And so, she found herself residing in her car, and as she mentioned, it’s been three years now.
