Here’s the first authorized sneak peek at “Bugonia” – a new film by Yorgos Lanthimos, where Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis abduct Emma Stone under the assumption that she is an extraterrestrial.
What happens in the Bugonia teaser trailer?
In simpler terms, the short preview introduces the plot by featuring two suspicious individuals, headed by Teddy (Plemons), who abduct Michelle (Stone), a high-ranking pharmaceutical executive, because they suspect she’s an extraterrestrial intent on annihilating Earth.
Bugonia is set to release in theaters on October 24, 2025.

Bugonia draws inspiration from the 2003 South Korean sci-fi movie “Save the Green Planet!”, helmed by director Jang Joon-hwan. The movie features performances by Plemons, Stone, Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone.
2003’s movie synopsis states: “Characters Lee Byeong-gu (played by Shin Ha-kyun) and Kang Man-shik (Baek Yun-shik) are central to this plot. Lee believes that there are extraterrestrials from the constellation Andromeda secretly living among us, planning to destroy Earth. He suspects Kang, the head of a chemical company, as their leader and abducts him. Hiding in a hidden fortress, Byeong-gu interrogates and torments Kang, hoping to extract a confession about his alleged actions against humanity and halt the impending destruction of our planet before it’s too late.
The film is penned by Will Tracy, with Lathimos co-producing alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe from Element Pictures, as well as Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen from Square Beg, Stone of Fruit Tree, and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko from CJ ENM.
In Lanthimos’ newest production titled “Kinds of Kindness,” both Stone and Plemons appear. This film will be their fourth project together, with Stone having previously collaborated with Lanthimos on three films: “The Favourite” in 2018, “Poor Things” scheduled for release in 2023, and “Kinds of Kindness.
