Emma Roberts Wants Britney Spears Biopic Rumors to Come True

As a seasoned gamer and pop culture enthusiast who grew up during the era of Britney Spears‘ meteoric rise to fame, the prospect of Emma Roberts playing the iconic singer in an upcoming biopic is nothing short of exhilarating!

As a devoted admirer, I’d leap at the chance to embody the captivating spirit of Britney Spears if given the opportunity to portray her in the upcoming biopic film. What a dream role that would be!

August 1st, 2024, I stumbled upon some exciting news as a gaming enthusiast: My favorite author, Spears, is turning her 2023 memoir novel, The Woman in Me, into a feature film with Universal Pictures! Known for his impressive work on movies like Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and In the Heights (2021), not to mention the upcoming Wicked adaptations, Jon M. Chu has been selected as the director. As of now, no casting announcements have been made, but I can hardly wait to see who will bring this story to life on the silver screen!

Not long after it was revealed the movie was being developed, Felicia Culotta, Spears’ ex-assistant for many years, shared her opinion with TMZ that Julia Roberts could make an excellent portrayal of the renowned pop star.

What did Emma Roberts say about wanting to play Britney Spears?

Speaking with Cosmopolitan, Roberts was asked what she thought about the idea of playing Spears.

She expressed, “I feel as though I adore Britney Spears’ assistant. To be honest, it’s a long-held aspiration of mine to portray Britney Spears. It’s just a rumor for now, but I can only hope that it might become reality. In fact, I recall one time when I shut myself in my room and played ‘In the Zone’ on repeat, determined not to step out until I had memorized every single lyric.”

“To be honest, I’ve been belting out Britney Spears tunes while bathing my kid daily. It’s got to make him wonder if I’m a total oddball sometimes – that’s the life of a modern-day parent.”

Emma Roberts is recognized for her roles in American Horror Story and Scream Queens’ character Chanel Oberlin. Her acting portfolio spans from Aquamarine (2006), Nancy Drew (2007), Valentine’s Day (2010), Scream 4 (2011), We’re the Millers (2013), The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2015), Nerve (2016), The Hunt (2020), and Madame Web (2024), as well as other notable films.

As a die-hard fan here, I can’t wait to catch the upcoming Britney Spears biopic! However, they haven’t set a release date yet. But rest assured, it’s being masterfully crafted under the guidance of producer Marc Platt. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed for an announcement soon!
