As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of Nintendo adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia mixed with anticipation as I hear about the upcoming demo for Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club. Being a fan of Yoshio Sakamoto’s work since the days of Metroid, I am eager to dive into this new narrative adventure and unravel its mysteries.
Starting August 29, 2024, a demo for Nintendo’s upcoming crime drama adventure, titled Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, will be available on the Nintendo Switch. This demo is due on the eShop next week and it includes the opening chapter of the game. Additionally, Nintendo plans to release additional chapters for the demo in the near future, allowing your progress from the demo to continue in the main game.
Nintendo shared details about Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club via their social media platforms. As per Nintendo’s announcement, a demo for The Smiling Man will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop starting August 19, 2024. The initial version will offer the first chapter of the game. Following this, another chapter will be added to the demo on August 22, 2024, and the final chapter will be released on August 27, 2024.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped to dive into the opening acts of Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club with a free demo dropping on my Nintendo Switch this coming 19th of August at 6pm PT. Keep an eye out for more chapters arriving on the 22nd and 27th at the same time, all set for 6pm PT each day. And here’s the cherry on top – your progress carries over to the full game, which launches on the 29th! Can’t wait to solve mysteries with Emio!

The demos offer a wonderful preview of what’s to come in Emio – The Smiling Man, acting as a connection to the complete game. By August 29, 2024, when The Smiling Man is set to release on Nintendo Switch, players can carry their progress from the demo into the main game seamlessly, allowing them to continue directly from where they last played without having to replay parts that have already been experienced.
