There’s been a great deal of interest surrounding the legal dispute between rapper Eminem and the stars of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon. This whole situation kicked off due to the name of their podcast, Reasonably Shady, which seems to have sparked some controversy. Now, people are eager to find out more about what transpired.
Eminem and Gizelle Bryant’s lawsuit explained
An unexpected legal conflict has arisen between rapper Eminem and TV personalities Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon from Real Housewives of Potomac. The disagreement originated when Bryant and Dixon applied to register their podcast, Reasonably Shady, which they launched in 2021.
Eminem, known by nicknames like “Slim Shady” and simply “Shady,” opposed a trademark application in early 2023. He argued that the use of these names could confuse customers and potentially harm his well-known brand which he’s held rights for in entertainment and merchandise since 1998.
In response to the claim, Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant’s legal representatives stated that there is no chance for consumers to be confused between Mather’s trademarks and their “Reasonably Shady” brand. They are ready to defend against any accusations concerning their intellectual property rights, as reported by Page Six.
The dispute intensified as the women’s lawyers asked for Eminem to physically attend court hearings. However, Eminem’s attorneys submitted a motion for protection against this request, stating that it was unnecessary. The matter grew more intricate since Bryant and Dixon had previously been questioned under oath regarding Eminem in another case. They contended that, given their compliance with similar legal obligations, it was only right that Eminem should follow suit.
In a new development, the United States Patent and Trademark Office Board decided in favor of Eminem. They determined that the Real Housewives stars had not presented enough proof to compel Eminem’s deposition. As a result, the board allowed Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, to act on his behalf in this case.
Regarding the matter, Bryant expressed, “To me, it’s absurdity. I definitely want it to conclude.” (via PEOPLE)
