Emily in Paris season 5 needs to happen after season 4's huge changes

As a seasoned gamer of life, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns, but none quite like the rollercoaster that is Emily in Paris. From the charming cobblestone streets of Paris to the picturesque landscapes of Rome, this series has kept me hooked since its debut.

The full fourth season of “Emily in Paris” is currently available for streaming on Netflix, following its two-part release in August and September. This season saw Emily dealing with some of the most intricate situations in both her personal and professional worlds. Consequently, after watching all the highs and lows of season 4, fans are eagerly anticipating and praying that “Emily in Paris” will return for a fifth season.

In the fourth season of “Emily in Paris”, Emily found herself navigating the aftermath of Gabriel and Camille’s nearly-wedding debacle that led to the dissolution of two relationships. Emily attempted reconciliation with Alfie but eventually found herself in a relationship with Gabriel during part 1. However, Camille’s pregnancy introduced a significant rift between them, and as we move into part 2, the tension between them is palpable and heightened.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but eagerly anticipate the possibility of another season for the captivating Netflix original series, “Emily in Paris.” Given its enduring popularity and the cliffhanger at the end of season 4, it feels almost inevitable that this delightful romantic comedy will be given a fifth season. Let’s explore what we know so far about potential developments in the storyline!

Emily in Paris season 5 is a safe bet

It’s been noted that the show “Emily in Paris” continues to hold its ground as a fan favorite. Following its two-part release for season 4, the series has maintained its position among Netflix’s most-watched shows daily and ranks within the top 10 in numerous countries globally. The initial five episodes of season 4 garnered almost 20 million views during the first four days since part 1 became available.

It’s clear as crystal: Renewing Emily in Paris for season 5 on Netflix seems like a certainty. Given its lasting appeal and high viewership numbers, it’s reasonable to expect another renewal. Despite the criticisms it still garners, viewers keep coming back. As long as audiences continue to watch, it’s likely that Netflix will carry on producing new seasons of this series.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that Netflix has been shaking up its renewal strategies lately. Instead of waiting around for about a month after a show’s release, they might surprise us with a renewal at any moment. For example, they announced the renewal for seasons 3 and 4 just ten days after season 2 dropped on December 22, 2021. That’s not only less than a month, but it’s also a double-season renewal! So, keep your eyes peeled post-season 4 part 2 – good news could be on its way!

In May 2024, during an Amfar charity event held at Cannes, a hint about the fifth season of Emily in Paris was casually revealed. The honor of presenting and conducting the auction fell to Paris Jackson and Winnie Harlow. One of the items they helped auction off was a minor role for the fifth season of Emily in Paris. Although Netflix has yet to confirm whether or not there will be a fifth season, this auction prize appeared to be an informal indication of renewal.

Warning: Spoilers ahead from Emily in Paris season 4.

What could (and should) happen in season 5

Rather than just assuming that season 5 is a given due to the show’s strong ratings, it’s crucial to address the many unanswered questions from the fourth season. Although the finale might seem like an open-ended series conclusion, taking Emily on a fresh journey beyond Paris, many viewers would probably find it unsatisfying if Emily in Paris ended in this manner.

In the finale of season 4, I find myself learning about an exciting temporary move to Rome, where I’ll be launching and managing the new Agence Grateau office in Italy. On top of that, I’ve been entrusted with the Muratori account, which means a delightful blend of work and romance as my new boyfriend, Marcello, is also involved. I can’t wait to embark on this new journey in Rome with Marcello, while climbing even higher in my career.

However, Gabriel isn’t backing down without a try! After securing his Michelin star, he comes to the realization that Emily is the one piece he’s been missing all along. In an unexpected twist (much like Alfie), this revelation sparks his determination to win her back. In a last-minute bluff, Gabriel shows up at Emily’s doorstep in Paris instead of Rome, pretending to be lost and asking for directions to find her in Italy. It’s evident that he’s ready to jump on the next flight to Italy and mend their relationship.

In the next season, we can expect Emily to initially find herself in Rome, enjoying a fresh romance and career opportunity. However, while some viewers might be content with Emily and Marcello’s pairing, the series has always seemed destined for Emily and Gabriel to eventually reunite. To fully realize this long-term plan, Emily in Paris will require at least one more season.
