Elon Musk Buckle's Up To Make Games Great Again With An "AI Game Studio"

As a long-time gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Elon Musk‘s announcement about starting an AI game studio piques my interest. Being a Diablo 4 aficionado myself and having witnessed the industry’s transformation over the years, I can understand his concerns about the increasing emphasis on ideological elements at the expense of good gameplay.

On November 27, 2024, Elon Musk (the current owner of X, formerly Twitter), a billionaire, declared that his venture xAI will establish an AI game studio to revitalize the gaming industry by saying, “xAI is set to revolutionize the gaming world once more!” This statement was in response to Billy Markus’s tweet concerning the ideological influence on game development and journalism.

There are too many game studios under the control of large corporations, but @xAI aims to establish an AI-powered game studio to revitalize gaming!

In short, modern AAA titles are more focused on adding more woke elements that make a good game.

For quite some time, Elon Musk has been an avid gamer, particularly excelling at Diablo 4. He’s often expressed thoughts on the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the video game sector, and how it extends even to video game reporting.

However, a notable development occurred as it was discovered that the forthcoming game by Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed, features character pronouns.

Having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable

For people who don’t know, a preview build of Avowed was given to content creators.

In a tweet, renowned user and gaming industry veteran Mark Kern (also known as Grummz) highlighted an interesting detail about the game: The character creation menu includes options for pronouns.

To which Elon replied, “Having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable.”

However, Elon’s response didn’t go down well with Matt Hansen, Art Director at Avowed, who not only shared the tweet but also acknowledged that some of the progressive elements were deliberate, expressing his excitement by saying, “I couldn’t wait to make him angry with my game. I can’t believe it actually happened.

Whoa there, Microsoft! Keep a close eye on your team working on Avowed, it seems they’re pushing things too far. You don’t want to risk the whole project or your studio’s reputation, right?

Over the course of time, numerous video game players, content producers, and even ex-director of Obsidian Entertainment, Chris Avellone, have shed light on the various discriminatory aspects prevalent within the gaming industry.

If I were in your shoes, having been turned down for an art role at Obsidian within the last few years, I’d strongly consider seeking legal advice – it could be worthwhile to explore claims of discrimination during the hiring process, particularly for a studio like Microsoft. This step may empower you to avoid applying for jobs there again, should such unfair practices persist.

After accumulating numerous factors, Elon has ultimately decided to establish a video game studio, believing that artificial intelligence (AI) could be the key.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in video games has a long history. It’s found across various platforms, from mobile devices to personal computers and gaming consoles. Games employ AI for level generation, creating non-player characters (NPCs), offering in-game advice, and numerous other functions.

Could Elon Musk really be planning to establish a game development studio that utilizes extended artificial intelligence, or is this just a bold statement without any real intention behind it?
