Reese Witherspoon recently shared some significant developments concerning the forthcoming Legally Blonde prequel series on Amazon Prime Video, titled Elle.

During a chat with People, Witherspson opened up about the casting procedure and revealed when the show will start filming.

Witherspoon expressed her high spirits. She shared that the project commences in March, and they’re currently going through the casting phase to decide who will portray the younger version of herself. She finds it quite intriguing.

In the film Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon portrays Elle Woods, a sorority member who enrolls at Harvard Law School in pursuit of her ex-boyfriend. However, Elle’s journey leads her to embrace law studies and experience personal growth, ultimately discovering her newfound independence. Excited about finding the right actress to play a younger version of her character, Witherspoon is actively involved in the casting process.

Rebecca also finds it thrilling to see these young women brimming with eagerness and energy, she said. The challenge lies in selecting among so many talented individuals, as there are just too many excellent candidates to pick from.

Who is involved in the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle?

In May 2024, Prime Video revealed they’ve commissioned a prequel series titled “Elle,” focusing on Elle Woods during her high school years. According to Amazon’s summary, this series will delve into the formative experiences that molded Elle Woods into the memorable character we met in the original Legally Blonde movie.

Laura Kittrell has been appointed as the showrunner and executive producer for Elle’s upcoming series. Kittrell is widely recognized for her work as a writer and executive producer on shows like Black Monday, Insecure, and High School. Reese Witherspoon, along with Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt, will also serve as executive producers. Elle will be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, a division of Candle Media, and Amazon MGM Studios.
