Elle Fanning, Stellan Skarsgård, & More Join Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value Cast

As a longtime admirer of captivating and thought-provoking cinema, I am simply thrilled at the prospect of Joachim Trier’s upcoming masterpiece, “Sentimental Value.” Having been enthralled by his previous work, The Worst Person in the World, I eagerly anticipate this new exploration into family dynamics, memories, and the enchanting world of art.

Sentimental Value has tapped some of Hollywood’s biggest names to star in Joachim Trier‘s upcoming film, set to join previously announced cast member Renate Reinsve.

In the pipeline after the 2021 romantic comedy-drama The Worst Person in the World, which garnered critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination, is Trier’s new project titled Sentimental Value. This upcoming film will see the return of Reinsve to collaborate with Trier once more, as she played the lead role in the previous production.

Production on Sentimental Value has already commenced in Oslo.

Who stars in Sentimental Value?

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that, as reported by Deadline, I’ll be watching Reinsve (from the captivating A Different Man) alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in an upcoming project. For those who may not know, Stellan Skarsgård is a versatile actor renowned for his roles in Breaking the Waves, Insomnia, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Good Will Hunting, Andor, Dune, Chernobyl, and many more iconic films. I can hardly wait!

Fanning, who has been in the spotlight since her early years, has starred in a number of acclaimed movies and television shows, including Super 8, Phoebe in Wonderland, Mary Shelley, The Beguiled, The Neon Demon, A Rainy Day in New York, 20th Century Women, and The Great, among others. Meanwhile, Lilleaas is a rising actress who starred in Women In Oversized Men’s Shirts, Young & Promising, and Netflix’s A Beautiful Life.

According to its portrayal, the play titled “Sentimental Value” is presented as a tender, emotional, and sometimes humorous examination of family, recollections, and the healing potential of art. The narrative will revolve around stage actress Nora (played by Reinsve) and her sister Agnes (Lilleaas), who are visited by their father Gustave (Skarsgård), following a significant period of absence. Known for his past success as a film director, Gustav intends to re-emerge and mend his relationship with Nora by casting her in the leading role for his next production. However, Nora resists any involvement with her father or his project.

Actress Emma Stone is slated to portray an unspecified American film star in a forthcoming movie. This production is overseen by Maria Ekerhovd and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar, with Nathanael Karmitz, Juliette Schrameck, Janine Jackowski, Jonas Dornbach, Sisse Graum Jørgensen, and Lizette Jonjic serving as executive producers.

Other details about Sentimental Value remain under wraps.
