20th Century Studios has confirmed that “Ella McCay” will hit theaters on its scheduled release date, with Emma Mackey set to headline this upcoming comedy film from Disney. This is Mackey’s debut as a main character in a big-budget movie, having gained notoriety for her exceptional performance in the teen comedy series Sex Education on Netflix, which ran for four successful seasons.
The plot revolves around a youthful, idealistic politician who grapples with personal family matters and a demanding professional lifestyle as she prepares to assume the position previously held by her respected mentor, a long-standing governor of the state.
When is the Ella McCay release date?
Ella McCay is set to make its theater debut on September 19, 2025, coinciding with Jordan Peele’s new film featuring Marlon Wayans, titled Him. Additionally, this month will see the release of Ella McCay alongside The Conjuring: Last Rites, Downton Abbey 3, a movie called The Bride, and Saw XI.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ve stumbled upon a film that’s written and directed by the talented James L. Brooks, known for his work in “Terms of Endearment”. This is actually his return to feature film directing after more than a decade since he helmed the romantic comedy “How Do You Know” in 2010.
The star-studded cast includes some familiar faces like Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Spike Fearn, Erica McDermott, and Troy Garity. It’s produced by James L. Brooks himself, along with Julie Ansell and Richard Saka. Seth Meier serves as an executive producer.
