As a long-time resident of Unity Township and a fellow grandmother myself, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy for Elizabeth Pollard and her family in these trying times. The thought of a loved one going missing is every parent’s worst nightmare, and it’s heart-wrenching to see it unfold in our own community.
Hey there, gaming buddy! I’m just sharing this news here: Last Tuesday, December 3, I heard about a worrying situation back in Unity Township, Pennsylvania. A lady named Elizabeth Pollard, who happens to be a grandmother, has been reported missing. The authorities are working tirelessly to find her, but there’s a growing concern that she might have fallen into a sinkhole. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best!
What happened to Elizabeth Pollard?
On Monday evening at 5 p.m., people had their last sighting of Pollard. It’s said that she went out to search for her lost cat and didn’t return, disappearing afterwards. A family member contacted the authorities close to 1 a.m. on Tuesday to submit a missing person report. The local police then arrived and initiated a search for her. They discovered Pollard’s car parked near Monday’s Union Restaurant prior to 3 p.m. Her 5-year-old granddaughter was inside, but there were no traces of the 64-year-old woman.
Yet, a recent sinkhole had appeared close by, leading officials to speculate that she could’ve tumbled into it. Search and rescue operations commenced immediately following this discovery, but so far, no trace of Pollard has been found.
Trooper Steve Limani expressed optimism that Pollard might have found himself in an air pocket, referring to past incidents nearby where miners had miraculously survived under comparable conditions.
As a concerned fan, I too pondered over the possible circumstances surrounding the incident. It seems it might have been formed when, regrettably, Miss Pollard was out for a walk. We’re keeping all our prayers with her family, hoping this turns into a rescue mission, and that’s the approach we’ll maintain moving forward.
Initially, it wasn’t assumed that Pollard had fallen into the sinkhole. However, during an investigation using a camera, rescuers found a “contemporary-looking” shoe at the bottom of the hole in Marguerite’s coal mining community. The shoe didn’t appear to be as old as when the nearby mine sections were still active.
Limani shared that the rescue team successfully navigated to the mine site, and as long as no significant safety issues arise, the search for Pollard will persist. “It’s heart-wrenching for her family and everyone here. However, we refuse to give up. We all are praying for a miracle,” he expressed.
