Actress Elizabeth Olsen has shared that she won’t reprise her role as Wanda, also known as Scarlet Witch, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie set for release in 2026. This anticipated production will bring together many Marvel Cinematic Universe stars to battle against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, are directing this film.
Elizabeth Olsen says she won’t be filming Avengers: Doomsday this summer
According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that she won’t be featuring in the upcoming Avengers film titled “Doomsday.” During a discussion about her movie “The Assessment,” she clarified her thoughts regarding the future of her Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Scarlet Witch.
The Marvel actress was inquired about her plans regarding filming Avengers: Doomsday and its sequel Secret Wars in London. She replied, “No, I’ve returned to the U.S. I recently wrapped up Panic Carefully.” She also mentioned that she will be moving on to shoot a pilot for FX titled Seven Sisters.
In a recent conversation with The Playlist’s The Discourse podcast, Olsen expressed her thoughts about Scarlet Witch’s possible role in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Her comments have sparked curiosity among fans, as they question what the future may hold for this character, who was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.
She explained, “In my mind’s eye, when I consider my ideal future, it feels like fifty years from now, and I sport a large, voluminous white wig and a face etched with deep wrinkles – this is how I envision Wanda’s upcoming adventure.
Despite Elizabeth Olsen herself claiming otherwise, whispers have been swirling around that I might be part of the next Avengers flick. Back in January, SuperHeroHype shared a Production Weekly listing where my name popped up on the cast roster for Avengers: Doomsday.
Beyond this, it’s worth mentioning that Olsen has shown interest in reprising her role as Wanda in the MCU. At the Vulture Festival in November 2024, she expressed her fondness for the character, stating, “I enjoy revisiting her when there’s a suitable way to do so. … If there’s a good opportunity, I’m always ready to return” (as reported by Deadline).
