Growing up in Asheboro, North Carolina, I may have been born in Williamson County, Texas, but it was there, in the heart of the Tar Heel State, where my love for acting ignited at just 14 years old. It all started when I landed a small role in a local adaptation of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers – a moment that set my life’s course towards the world of performance.
After wrapping up high school in 2010, I decided to dive headfirst into my passion for acting. I enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and spent four years honing my skills. In May 2014, I graduated with a B.F.A. in Drama, ready to bring my acting talents to life on stage.
Career
From 2011 to 2014, I, Elizabeth Lail, immersed myself in student-led film projects such as Model Airplane and Without while attending university. Yet, the allure of theater called me, and I moved to New York City to chase those opportunities.
Throughout this period, she tried out for the ABC series “Once Upon a Time” and managed to secure the part of Anna during its fourth season, debuting on television in 2014.
In 2016, Elizabeth Lail secured a major part in the Freeform horror series Dead of Summer, playing counselor Amy. The year after that, she joined the cast of the Lifetime/Netflix show You, where she acted as Guinevere Beck, alongside Penn Badgley and Shay Mitchell.
2018 saw the debut of the series, with her outstanding acting role earning her a Best Actress nomination at the 45th Saturn Awards.
In the second and fourth seasons of “You,” Lail reprised her role as Guinevere Beck for guest appearances. Moreover, she took on the lead character in the 2019 horror movie titled Countdown. Also, she played Mack in the comedy film Mack & Rita, which featured Diane Keaton, and was released in March 2021.
