Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remake Is Real and Leaked, But Switch 2 May Be Left Out

In 2006, the groundbreaking game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was unveiled, shaping open-world fantasy experiences for countless gamers. With its expansive Cyrodiil landscape and endearing non-player characters, it continues to captivate fans to this very day. Now, there are indications that the game is poised for a resurgence with a remake tailored for modern audiences. Unfortunately, it appears that Nintendo enthusiasts may not get to join in on the fun.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that the long-anticipated remake of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” seems to be legit! It appears that it has accidentally been leaked. A glimpse of this project was briefly visible on the official website of Virtuos Studios, a Singapore-based company renowned for their work in remakes and support for big-name titles like “Hogwarts Legacy”, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III”, and “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater”.

The pictures were swiftly removed and replaced with a 404 error message. Fortunately, Reddit user masl_13 was able to preserve them and disclose some intriguing information. The images show logos for Steam, Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation, and potentially hint that the Knight of the Nine and Shivering Isles DLCs might only be included in the Deluxe Edition, as a low-resolution photo suggests.

It seems conspicuous that neither the original Nintendo Switch nor its potential successor, the Switch 2, have been mentioned in relation to the remake of Oblivion.

While there’s a chance the game may be revealed for Nintendo’s upcoming console in the future, considering neither the game nor the console has been released yet. However, it’s also plausible that Bethesda is choosing to avoid the Switch and instead focusing on more powerful hardware.

It’s not the first instance that rumors about a remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion have resurfaced. In December 2024, a reliable source named eXtas1stv hinted that the game could be officially unveiled in January 2025. Allegedly developed using Unreal Engine 5, this project is said to have been in progress since 2019, with Virtuos overseeing its development.

In the meantime, while fans are excitedly looking forward to additional content from the Elder Scrolls series, there’s a growing worry about The Elder Scrolls 6. According to ex-Bethesda artist Dennis Mejillones, Microsoft’s control over the studio might be becoming too dominant, potentially taking away Todd Howard’s ultimate decision-making power.

Currently, fans of the game Oblivion can anticipate a remake that revives Cyrodiil with contemporary graphics. Meanwhile, those hoping for Switch 2 should remain hopeful, as we await an official announcement to determine whether Bethesda and Virtuos will indeed overlook Nintendo’s upcoming console.
