Summary
- Elden Ring’s PvP mode is currently plagued by cheaters and hackers.
- Not only are they ruining the experience, but are also breaking players’ save files.
- Cheaters will never become Elden Lords.
As a seasoned Elden Ring gamer, if you’ve conquered NG+7 and toppled Promised Consort Radahn within the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you might be pondering how to delve deeper into this captivating world. With Nightreign on hold for now, and network tests not quite going as planned, it seems there’s little else to do but traverse The Lands Between, annihilating any foe that crosses your path, or engage in PvP combat with fellow Tarnished.
Initially speculated during pre-launch, the PvP feature in Elden Ring was recently introduced as a free update, lending credibility to the colosseum talk. This allows players to engage in combat with one another, showcasing who has the superior build and abilities. Unfortunately, in recent days, Elden Ring’s PvP mode has been marred by cheaters, causing frustration among the player community.
Elden Lords Cheese, But Don’t Cheat
Cheaters aren’t just boosting their scores or exploiting abilities unfairly; they are, in essence, manipulating the game to an extent that disrupts normal play for other users, and in severe instances, damaging their save files. As illustrated by a Reddit post from MienaiYurei, some cheaters have overstepped the boundaries.
As a gamer, I’ve encountered this type of cheater before. They swiftly exit when they see the gray screen, presumably to protect their progress. What they’re doing is using software to kick us off the map, making us fall endlessly through the ground, even after respawning. This could potentially corrupt our save file. But what’s strange is that in a quick succession of matches, two different cheaters have done this to me in a row, right after losing. I’ve seen them occasionally, but never two in a row like this. So, beware on the battlefield.
It appears some players are exploiting this trick, and regrettably, it impacts your game progress. As one user put it, “Things are getting quite chaotic.” There’s speculation about whether FromSoftware will address Elden Ring hacking issues similarly to how they handled the Dark Souls trilogy a few years back, by temporarily disabling online features for an extended period. Interestingly, many commenters noted that the multiplayer experience in Dark Souls 3 was superior to that in Elden Ring.
