Elden Ring Nightreign’s Cord End Is a Lifesaver for Those Who Die Often

In Elden Ring, Nightreign’s punishment for death could be more severe than in any previous FromSoftware game. Each time you die, you lose runes and are set back to level 1, which can be painful if you’re almost at the maximum level of 15.

In any FromSoftware game, you’d expect challenges, and in Elden Ring Nightreign, one such challenge is the risk of death. However, there’s a helpful item available for those frequently encountering this fate.

Following the path of the Cord’s End will take you to a secret spot, sure to impress the adventurous Nightfarers who dare to navigate the perils of Limveld.

What does the Cord End do in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Begin appealing to the gods of random chance, for the Cord End drop in Elden Ring Nightreign is exceptionally scarce since it’s an extraordinary artifact. This Cord End serves a unique purpose: unveiling a concealed door nestled by the river north of Central Castle Limveld.

During my gaming adventure, if I’ve stumbled upon a Cord End somewhere along the way, only then should I attempt to approach the concealed doorway. Trying to open the stone door without this artifact will lead to a message informing me that it “Only responds to those who have earned the right“.

Behind the secret door, you’ll find a treasure: 3x Sacrificial Twigs – a familiar item from Elden Ring. In the previous game, these items could be discovered in the Atlus Plateau and Crumbling Farum Azula regions, and they were not easy to obtain.

A user identified as Byf60V X stumbled upon a hidden stone doorway on the northern part of the Central Castle, and in doing so, uncovered the purpose behind the Cord End.

I’ve found a way to use the end of a string in today’s topic.

By touching the door of the spirit well, located on the north side of the central castle and parallel to it, you will find yourself with an end of a string. This action confirms that the door opens.

These Sacrificial Twigs act as a shield against the harsh consequence of death in Elden Ring Nightreign, sparing you from losing your runes and a level upon demise. Unlike Talismans, they occupy your Talisman slots but are consumed when used, rather than being recoverable.

If your team consists of three members, give each of them a Sacrificial Twig to minimize the risk of failure and death during three separate runs through the levels. Keep in mind that if time is tight while trying to find the hidden door after discovering the Cord End, it might be wiser not to carry the Sacrificial Twig with you.

On your initial day, Sacrificial Twigs prove beneficial. But as you advance, you’ll acquire superior and sturdier items such as boluses. If you find yourself carrying a Cord End by the end of day two or the start of day three, consider swapping it out for something more advantageous instead.

How to find the Cord End in Elden Ring Nightreign?

In Elden Ring Nightreign, it’s challenging to find the Cord End as it’s a scarcely found loot. However, this coveted artifact might occasionally appear in crates within Churches, making Church visits worth your time for more reasons than one.

At these churches, you’ll find extra Holy Vials to boost your healing abilities, making them significant Places of Interest to explore in Limveld. Should fortune smile upon you, you might come across a Stray Cord Knob.

Visiting the churches is always rewarding, but searching for the secret stone door might not be, based on your current day and remaining time. If time’s running short, better switch to exploring landmarks with more valuable treasures instead.
