In Elden Ring Nightreign by FromSoftware, you can only engage in solo play or multiplayer with a group of three. Surprisingly, they overlooked the option for two-player cooperation. However, after acknowledging that it hadn’t occurred to them to include it, the developer has confirmed that Duos mode will be added later on.
In an upcoming release, the developer has verified that a formal two-player mode will be incorporated into the game eventually. Yet, before this official release, modifiers have already implemented a duos feature in the latest multiplayer game.
Elden Ring Nightreign duos is happening
In a heartfelt message on social media, FromSoftware expressed gratitude to fans for trying out their latest spin-off. They hinted that the battle isn’t yet concluded, as they plan to introduce new adversaries, classes, and other exciting content in future updates. The team also revealed that cooperative gameplay featuring duos is indeed a reality.
The developer announced that along with the Deluxe Content Layer coming out by the end of this year, they will start introducing new features firstly with improved battles against current Nightlords from this very month. Additionally, there are plans for Duo Expeditions to be rolled out at a later point in time.
Although FromSoftware’s adaptation requires numerous adjustments for balance, a modder effortlessly incorporated Elden Ring Nightreign duo mode into the game within four hours – a feat accomplished by Yui, who previously developed a smooth cooperative mod for the original title.
The modder shared on Patreon that they put together a basic multiplayer setup for the game this evening, which operates independently of matchmaking servers and doesn’t require EAC (the anti-cheat software).
This option offers you the flexibility to play with only two players instead of being paired up with strangers. Additionally, as new mods become available, they will enhance replayability and customization. Furthermore, there may be a possibility for raising the player limit in the future.
The modder shared more information with fans about their progress on a “seamless co-op” Nightreign mod. In another post, Yui detailed that after increasing the player limit, they can adjust multiplayer to accommodate from teams of two, right up to a maximum of 127 players.
The modder explained that if the player limit is exceeded, there’s no real barrier to going even higher. He suggested that creating a mod for four players could effectively support as many as 127 players (though performance might suffer), because once the necessary adjustments are made, it essentially involves just increasing the number.
There’s plenty more ground to cover in the development of Elden Ring Nightreign, as there are numerous updates planned. Fingers crossed that the inclusion of official cooperative gameplay doesn’t take an excessive amount of time.
