Excitedly speaking here, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just learned about the release date for the suspenseful survival thriller from Vertical titled “Eden.” Starring Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney and Oscar nominee Ana de Armas, this announcement follows Vertical securing the North American distribution rights for the movie directed by none other than Ron Howard!
Through the collaboration with AGC Studios, Vertical, and our outstanding team at Imagine Entertainment, I’m delighted to bring Eden to U.S. viewers, said Howard in a statement. This project has been close to my heart for many years, inspired by real-life events where three distinct groups of people abandoned contemporary life to build anew on an isolated Galapagos island. The richness of the characters and the intriguing interplay that ensued are what initially captivated me, and I hope viewers will resonate with the deep themes of survival and human nature. The story seems particularly poignant in today’s world, and I can’t wait for audiences to immerse themselves in it on the big screen!
When is the Eden release date?
After making its debut at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie titled Eden is now set to hit cinemas this summer on August 22, 2025. This film is based on an enigmatic event that took place on a secluded island in the Galapagos. The star-studded cast features Jude Law (known for The Order), Vanessa Kirby (from The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Daniel Brühl (of All Quiet on the Western Front), Richard Roxburgh (famous for Van Helsing), Toby Wallace (recognized in Babyteeth), among others.
The movie is based during the time between the two World Wars and tells an unsettling real-life account of a band of disenchanted Europeans who, believing civilization warps human nature, decide to escape. Their goal: finding paradise on a secluded, uninhabited Galapagos island. However, they soon realize that the most dangerous adversary isn’t the harsh environment or lethal wildlife, but their fellow colonists. As tensions rise and despair sets in, a dark power struggle emerges, marked by treachery, violence, and the unsettling, unsolved deaths of nearly half the settlement.
The movie “Eden” is helmed by director Howard, who’s worked on a screenplay penned by Noah Pink. This story has been in the making for more than ten years, initially conceived by both Pink and Howard. Produced by Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder of Imagine Entertainment, Stuart Ford of AGC Studios, William M. Connor, and Patrick Newall, this film also boasts a team of executive producers including Miguel Palos, Zach Garrett, Craig McMahon, Noah Pink, Mathias Herndl, Namit Malhotra, David Taghioff, Masha Magonova, and Matt Murphie. Notably, this project marks the tenth time composer Hans Zimmer has collaborated with Howard.
