Eddie Murphy has been tapped to play a retired spy in Sony Pictures’ Blue Falcon.
The action-comedy film titled “Blue Falcon” is freshly penned by Chad St. John. At this point, no director has been assigned to the production.
By the given deadline, Murphy’s character portrayal is that of an ex-spy who attends the destination wedding of his distant son. However, an unexpected twist arises when he encounters his longtime adversary at Blue Falcon.
What else do we know about Blue Falcon with Eddie Murphy?
As for now, I’m keeping quiet about more storyline details, but rest assured that there are exciting developments brewing. Beyond Murphy, no further cast members have been revealed as of yet.
Murphy is teaming up with Charisee Hewitt-Webster for this film, both of them under Eddie Murphy Productions. Additionally, John Davis from Davis Films and Cliff Roberts from Syndicate Entertainment are also taking on the role of producers.
Previously, Chad St. John penned the screenplays for “The Punisher: Dirty Laundry” (2012), “London Has Fallen” (2016), “Peppermint” and “Replicas” (both 2018). He also wrote the script for “Motor City”, a fresh film by Potsy Ponciroli featuring Alan Ritchson, Pablo Schreiber, Shailene Woodley, and Ben Foster. The release date for this movie has not been disclosed yet.
In 1982, Murphy first appeared on the big screen in Hollywood with the film 48 Hrs. Later, he starred as Detective Axel Foley in the 1984 blockbuster Beverly Hills Cop. This role was followed by three more movies: Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), and most recently, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
In 2007, Murphy was put forward for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor due to his work in Dreamgirls. Additionally, he received the honor for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2020 by hosting Saturday Night Live and won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in 1984 for Eddie Murphy: The Comedian.
In addition to providing the voice for the Donkey character in the Shrek series, his acting credits also span movies such as Coming to America (1988), Dr. Dolittle (1998), The Haunted Mansion (2003), Tower Heist (2011), Dolemite Is My Name (2019), and several others.
A release date for Blue Falcon has not yet been announced by Sony Pictures.
