As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the rise of EA Sports FC 25 to Twitch’s top 10 most viewed topics is nothing short of remarkable! I remember the days when FIFA was the undisputed king of soccer simulations, but it seems like the tide has turned.
The September 2024 StreamElements State of the Stream report has been released, bringing an abundance of fresh insights about Twitch’s status and trending subjects. This month’s major headline? Apart from Dota 2 The International contributing to increased viewership, EA Sports FC 25 managed to break into Twitch’s top 10 most-watched categories for the month.
In their September 2024 report, StreamElements shared insights based on data from Rainmaker.gg, their analytics partner. This report reveals the top 10 games on Twitch for that month and how they ranked. Interestingly, EA Sports FC 25 managed to secure the tenth position with a total of 31 million hours watched. Remarkably, it’s only the second new game to crack Twitch’s top 10 in 2024; the other being Palworld, which reached the sixth spot in January 2024 when its excitement was at its peak.
The massive audience for EA Sports FC 25 suggests a strong interest in the game as Electronic Arts seeks to break away from the costly FIFA license and focus on independent international soccer simulations. However, according to our Shacknews review, it didn’t quite hit the mark yet. Nevertheless, EA is striving to set itself apart as the leading provider of soccer simulation games. That being said, it has some ground to cover if it aims to outperform numbers like those seen by Dota 2, which saw a 78% increase in viewership due to The International 2024 event.
Keep an eye out for the latest StreamElements State of the Stream reports, following the recent changes in the top 10 on Twitch, which will be released soon, right here on Shacknews.
