As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, the mere mention of Fight Night‘s comeback has sent waves of nostalgia coursing through my veins. The original Fight Night was an unparalleled boxing experience that set the bar high for the genre. So, hearing whispers of its return is like hearing the sweet sound of a perfectly timed jab – it’s exhilarating and full of promise.
Year after year, Fight Night was a highly anticipated game from EA, starting as Knockout Kings in 1998 and transforming into Fight Night in 2004. It’s been 13 years since its last release, but it’s not a total knockout – the franchise is making a return!
As per YouTuber Mike Shaw, the game Fight Night is now being reconsidered for release. Originally slated to come out several years back among the UFC series, its launch was postponed, resumed temporarily, and ultimately shelved.
Reportedly, it’s currently under active development and expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
In reference to recent endeavors in the boxing game market, Mike Shaw stated:
EA has kept a close eye on Steel City Interactive and Undisputed. They aren’t worried about affording licenses, because EA has billions of dollars. They’re worried about the interest and the sales.
However, it seems that Electronic Arts are of the opinion that there’s sufficient demand for it. A YouTuber forecasts a launch within three years, estimating that Fight Night will return in 2027.
I can tell you after years of off-and-on, EA is in the stage where it’s working on what they have to do to get this out. Three to four years is a good window point. If I were to put money on it, I’d say we’re looking at Fight Night in 2027, maybe.
As a gamer, I’ve been eagerly anticipating any updates about Fight Night, but let’s not get too excited just yet. We need to wait for the official word before we can really believe it.
