Following the less-than-satisfactory Dying Light 2, Techland is bringing players back as Kyle Crane in a fresh adventure with Dying Light: The Beast. This upcoming standalone game offers a unique storyline for gamers to explore, while also providing tantalizing hints about the future of the series.
Dying Light: The Beast will tease the next game
In an interview with GamesRadar, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektala shared that The Beast will abandon the narrative choices present in the second game and instead concentrate solely on a linear storyline. This shift is aimed at returning to the roots of the original game as the development team endeavors to reacquaint themselves with what they are familiar with.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Smektala has shed some light on the future of our favorite zombie series. While he didn’t spill all the beans, hinting at either Dying Light 3 or another standalone spin-off, or something entirely new, one thing is certain – there’s a promising development brewing on the horizon for us to delve into!
The director of the franchise shared that they intended for this to serve as an official sequel within the series. They aim to explore Kyle Crane’s subsequent experiences and continue the narrative from where it left off in the original game.
In their explanation, it was pointed out that “Dying Light: The Beast” subtly indicates where the series may head in the future. They made a conscious effort to position Kyle Crane at the end of the game exactly how they wanted him to be, which is why they opted to retreat from the narrative decisions made in Dying Light 2.
As Techland continues to polish their upcoming independent title, they’ve also recently completed enhancing the initial game for PC and console platforms. The recent Retouched update, marking a decade since the launch of the open-world zombie game, introduces fresh graphical elements to celebrate the occasion.
With improved high-definition textures, advanced skyboxes and clouds, superior shadow quality, a revamped soundtrack, and contemporary rendering technologies, the game has just received numerous upgrades. Although Techland refers to it as an “enhancement” rather than a “remaster”, its enhanced features give it a remastered feel.
