Martin Scorsese‘s highly anticipated film project in Hawaii featuring Dwayne Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio has received a significant update. The as-yet-unnamed movie is said to be inspired by the true story of Wilford “Nappy” Pulawa, a notorious mob boss who headed the largest criminal organization on the Hawaiian Islands.

Disney is close to finalizing a deal for the rights of Scorsese’s upcoming crime drama movie, featuring a Hawaiian mafia boss as its main character, reminiscent of Robert De Niro’s Jimmy the Gent role from Goodfellas. Besides Johnson and DiCaprio, Emily Blunt – a previous Golden Globe winner – is also set to appear in this film.
Martin Scorsese is set to take charge of a film script penned by Nick Bilton. This upcoming production will be jointly produced by Scorsese himself, Johnson, Blunt, DiCaprio, Bilton, Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette, and Rick Yorn. At this point, neither the title, start date, nor release date for the project has been announced.
