As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of sci-fi series, I must say that Dune: Prophecy has certainly piqued my interest with its intricate plotlines and tantalizing mysteries. The Season 1 finale was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, leaving me on the edge of my seat (or couch, in this case) wondering who planted the thinking machine and the virus in Desmond Hart.
The final episode of “Dune: Prophecy Finale” has been broadcast, marking the conclusion of Season 1. It left viewers with more questions than answers, chief among them being the revelation of the enigmatic adversary who transformed Desmond Hart, portrayed by Travis Fimmel, into a lethal biological weapon.
In Episode 6, titled “The High-Handed Enemy,” Emily Watson’s character Valya initiates her strategy to overthrow Javicco Corrino and position his daughter instead. Simultaneously, Emma Canning’s character Tula learns that Desmond is her child and endeavors to find a remedy for the viral nightmares, leading to unfortunate outcomes.
Who planted the thinking machine and the virus in Desmond Hart in Dune: Prophecy?
As a gamer, I find myself engrossed in Dune: Prophecy’s Finale, but one thing that’s left unclear is who implanted the thinking machine inside Desmond Hart, transforming him into a bio-weapon. In Episode 6, Tula confides in Nazir, a Sisterhood member with medical expertise, about her recurring nightmares. They both hypothesize that it’s a fear-feeding virus. Unfortunately, Nazir perishes while attempting to develop an antidote using prana-bindu.
As I neared the end of the latest episode, Valya experiences a powerful vision regarding Desmond following our heated encounter. While I managed to uncover some pieces of his story, crucial aspects of the mystery remain shrouded in enigma. What I unearthed was that a figure cloaked in darkness employed a thought-deciphering device to embed miniature thought-devices within Desmond’s very eyes, effectively turning him into a living vessel for the virus.
Since Valya can only make out the outline of the cloaked figure, their identity, intentions, and even gender remain unclear. It could be someone with a profound hatred for the Sisterhood, planning to dismantle it using Desmond as a tool. This person might have been acquainted with the Order during the war against the thinking machines. They appear to harbor a desire for vengeance, intending to bring about the downfall of the Sisterhood, believing that the Order has wronged them in some way.
As a vengeful gamer, I could be someone with unfinished business against Tula and Valya, determined to sabotage their power grab in the Imperium. While it’s possible there’s a surviving Atreides from the massacre Tula orchestrated, that seems rather remote.
Additionally, it’s likely that this individual recognized Desmond’s abilities, but it remains uncertain if they were aware of his true heritage. With the confirmation of Season 2 just a week ago, this is a mystery fans are eagerly anticipating will be resolved in the upcoming season.
