Dune 3 Filming Start Date Revealed for Denis Villeneuve’s Messiah

The highly anticipated next installment in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy, titled Dune: Messiah, now has a confirmed timeline for when filming will commence.

When is Dune: Messiah going to start filming?

Based on a recent report from Deadline, the production of Dune: Messiah is scheduled to begin this coming summer. Pre-production for the sequel in the series has already commenced. According to Deadline, the intended start date is summertime, although the main challenge lies in ensuring that all talent will be available by then.

Dune: Messiah is set to be adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel of the same name, which serves as the second installment in the Dune series. The story picks up where the first book left off and delves into the life of Paul “Maud’Dib” Atreides, who has become Emperor, and his experiences after embracing his role as a messianic figure among the Fremen.

Based on current speculation, it seems that the main cast from Dune: Part Two is expected to reprise their roles in Dune: Messiah, with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, and others likely to return.

In March of 2024, Dune: Part Two hit theaters and was both critically acclaimed and commercially popular. The movie grossed over $700 million worldwide and garnered five nominations for the Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects.
