For those not familiar, Dulquer first appeared in Telugu cinema with Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati, portraying Gemini Ganesan. Interestingly, at a recent gathering, the director shared that Dulquer actually turned down the offer for this project before even hearing the script.

Director Nag Ashwin shared that actor Dulquer initially had doubts about his ability to speak fluent Telugu and whether he would be welcomed in the Telugu film industry. Yet, Nag Ashwin expressed admiration for how Dulquer delivered stellar performances in his Telugu films over the years, which have consistently been box office successes.

He shared, “When I told Mahanati to Dulquer garu in Chennai, he said he couldn’t act in Telugu films. He wondered if people would understand him and if they wouldn’t find it strange that he didn’t know the language. Fast forward six years, after a successful hat trick and three blockbusters, he’s now considered a Telugu superstar more than many others. I am incredibly happy for him and grateful too.
