Dragon Ending Explained: Here’s how Pradeep Ranganathan starrer coming-of-age drama resolved its conflict at the end

As a dedicated follower, I’m excited to share that the Pradeep Ranganathan-led coming-of-age comedy-drama “Dragon” hit the big screens on February 21, 2025. This captivating production, masterfully directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, is now streaming on Netflix for all to enjoy.

The movie primarily focuses on the life of D. Ragavan, or Dragon, a former diligent pupil. But when his high school sweetheart turned him down for a rebellious suitor, he opted to embrace a rebellious spirit during his college years instead.

During his university days, Dragon rebels and accumulates 48 academic debts. This downturn in his studies also causes his girlfriend to part ways with him. Desperate, he forges a degree certificate to secure a well-paying job at a firm.

In his swift climb up the career ladder, an unexpected twist unfolds as his old college principal exposes his dishonesty, presenting him with two options: admit his misdeeds and forfeit his lavish lifestyle, or settle 48 outstanding debts in a three-month timeframe.

After that, the remaining part of the movie portrays Dragon’s endeavor to ace his tests and manage his romantic relationship with his fiancee simultaneously. However, the movie seems to end on a positive note, until a surprising turn of events occurs towards the end.

Despite successfully settling 47 past due amounts all at once, Dragon finds himself grappling with completing his final assignment. In a last-ditch attempt, he hires someone else to take the exam for him, an action that unfortunately jeopardizes another student’s academic progression.

This forces Dragon to confess his wrongdoing, resulting in his marriage being cancelled and him being jailed. Yet, the movie’s ending emphasizes Dragon’s journey towards redemption.

Following his admission of errors, he relinquishes his pride and takes on the role of a courier, all while studying through distance learning. Later, the principal resurfaces in his life – this occasion bringing a proposal for him to wed his daughter.
