What happens in the Dope Thief trailer?

As a gamer, I’d spin it like this: In this series, you follow my journey with an old pal, posing as undercover DEA agents to swindle petty drug dealers. But when we pick the wrong mark, a vengeful foe, he’s not about to let us walk away scot-free after robbing him blind. The talented cast includes Marin Ireland as Kristy, Kate Mulgrew as Theresa, Nesta Cooper as Michelle, Amir Arison as Mark, Dustin Nguyen as Ho Dinh, and the legendary Ving Rhames as Bart.

In my gaming world, I’d say: “This series is about me and my old buddies from Philly, who are always up to no good. One day, we decide to pull off a big heist, posing as DEA agents to rob a house in the sticks, not knowing it would turn into so much more. What started as a simple scam quickly turns into a high-stakes game of life and death, as we accidentally expose and unravel the largest hidden drug smuggling operation along the Eastern Seaboard.

The show “Dope Thief” was developed and overseen by Peter Craig, inspired by Dennis Tafoya’s 2009 book of the same title. The series is also supervised by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Henry, Jordan Sheehan, Clayton Krueger, and Jennifer Wiley-Moxley. Notably, Scott is also responsible for directing the first episode. “Dope Thief” is a co-production between Apple Studios and Scott Free.
