Margaret Qualley likely won’t be appearing in the MCU anytime soon.
In the near future, Qualley is set to appear as Sue in the movie “The Substance” (2024), followed by a role in Ethan Cohen’s upcoming film “Honey Don’t!” which hits US theaters next month. Her past cinematic appearances include “The Nice Guys” (2016), “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019), “Sanctuary” (2022), and “Drive-Away Dolls” (2024). On television, she has starred in shows like “The Leftovers”, “Fosse/Verdon”, and “Maid”.
When it comes to Marvel, Qually’s name is frequently mentioned among potential castings for Rogue, a well-known X-Men character that was brought to life by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden.
What did Margaret Qualley say about playing the X-Men’s Rogue?
When Collider inquired about joining a big franchise such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Qualley expressed that she currently has no intention of being part of it.
She expressed that she’s hesitant about joining a franchise because it appears to require a significant amount of time and effort, causing her some apprehension [laughs].
Alongside her role in “Honey Don’t!”, Qualley has been cast in “Happy Gilmore 2” set to release on Netflix this coming Friday. She also appeared in Richard Linklater’s film “Blue Moon”, premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February, and is scheduled to work alongside Jacob Elordi in Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars”, due for release in 2026.
Concerning Rogue, Marvel Studios hasn’t made any casting decisions yet for the MCU. A Marvel Studios X-Men movie helmed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts) is under development, but the characters appearing in it remain undecided. This film isn’t scheduled to release until after Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with the latter slated for a December 2026 premiere.
In the animated X-Men ’97 series, Lenore Zann provides the voice for Rogue, a role that will continue into at least two upcoming seasons.
