As a longtime fan of Tamil cinema who has witnessed the careers of numerous stars rise and fall, I must admit that the recent copyright case between Nayanthara and Dhanush has left me rather intrigued. Having followed their individual journeys for years, it is fascinating to see the dynamic unfold between them off-screen.
The copyright dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush, regarding a Netflix documentary series worth approximately 100 crores Indian Rupees, has been causing quite a stir recently. Notably, actress Radikaa Sarathkumar recounted an intriguing incident, detailing how taken aback Dhanush was when he learned that Nayanthara was in a relationship with Vignesh Shivan during the filming of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan itself.
In a heartfelt segment of Nayanthara’s documentary called “Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale,” Radikaa Sarathkumar shared a story from the set of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. This tale revealed that Nayanthara, affectionately known as the lady superstar, fell in love and began dating the movie’s director, Vignesh Shivan. Yet, they chose to keep their relationship hidden from everyone on set.
Radikaa went into depth about the sudden call she got from an angry Dhanush, who discovered that Nayanthara and Vignesh had been secretly seeing each other.
Upon hearing Dhanush’s startling remarks, Radikaa replied, “Dhanush phoned me and said, ‘Sister, don’t you have any sense of decency left? I was taken aback, thinking, ‘What is he talking about?’ He then questioned, ‘Don’t you know that Wikki and Nayan are romantically involved?’ I exclaimed, ‘What on earth are you implying? I had no idea.’
Indeed, Nayanthara’s open letter to Dhanush has sparked various responses from both fans and fellow actresses who have collaborated with him in the past.
Actress Jawan responded firmly to Dhanush’s authoritative behavior, reminiscent of an imperial ruler, as he filed a Rs. 10 crore copyright lawsuit over a brief 3-second excerpt from a documentary that featured his team and was produced by others.

Eventually, Dhanush’s legal representative also commented on the issue, explaining that all the content utilized in the documentary belonged exclusively to the actor, and it had not been given permission for use.
Dhanush’s legal representative has recommended that the other party takes down the copyright-violating material in the Netflix documentary within the next 48 hours. If this action is not taken, they should expect to encounter a lawsuit.
