In the game known as “Atomic Heart”, you explore a serene society where humans and faithful robots coexist harmoniously, maintaining a peaceful way of life.
However, this tranquility is fleeting; the introduction of a novel robot control system transforms former faithful machines into your hostile adversaries instead.
Engage in battles with formidable robots, genetically-altered creatures, and entities empowered by clandestine scientific research.
In 2023, I’ll be diving into an all-new gaming world with “Under the Sea,” the third DLC for the action shooter created by Mundfish. It’s not just another level or expansion; it’s a whole new environment to explore!
Atomic Heart – What Is It about?
Imagining an alternate ’50s timeline, I find myself in a world where the Soviet Union has leaped ahead in technological advancements. Everyday items for me now include robots and cybernetic machines.
Humans and machines coexist harmoniously, assisting one another and fostering advancement. However, a disastrous event at Research Facility 3826 poses a significant risk of disrupting this peaceful coexistence.
Initially designed to aid us, machines start behaving adversely towards humans. Meanwhile, it is revealed that clandestine genetic experiments resulted in the creation of grotesque, genetically altered creatures.
It appears that the confusion is connected with a novel technology known as the Collective, which is a neural network bridging human and artificial intelligence.
Amidst this bleak future, you assume the position of Major Sergei Nachaev, more commonly referred to as P-3.
In your role as a highly skilled operative with unique talents, you’ve been dispatched by the authorities to scrutinize the unusual circumstances arising from a facility where robots, acting erratically, have caused harm and loss among the staff and researchers.
What To Expect From The Under The Sea DLC
The DLCs for Atomic Heart expand the story with new areas, enemies and gameplay mechanics.
The sequel titled “Annihilation Instinct” (released in August 2023) further unfolds the narrative following the primary game, primarily delving into the erratic AI character named NORA, introducing fresh settings, and unveiling novel weapons.
Trapped in Limbo (February 2024) took P-3 into a surreal dimension to recover lost memories.
In January 2025, the underwater adventure titled “Under the Sea” transports you to the origin of the calamity: the enigmatic Neptune Underwater Research Centre, a research station known as Research Station 3826. Here, you will encounter fresh challenges, perils, and strange sea creatures.

In DLC#3, prepare to revisit old haunts as well as venture into uncharted territories. Delve into an underwater complex that’s shrouded in mystery. However, tread carefully-the depths conceal a sinister menace known as the MOR-4Y.

Beyond the usual places that have undergone significant transformations, you’ll also encounter entirely novel gameplay experiences within a brand-new setting. Rest assured, the well-loved combat system is still intact.
It’s uncertain if you’ll identify it right away, but some locations in the revamped game, like the city in the sky known as Chelomey, underwent significant changes.
It is now completely dominated by robots and almost unrecognisable.
New Skills, Weapons And Enemies
Beneath the Ocean’s surface, there are fresh combat tools and skills for you to test against brand-new adversaries that have yet to be encountered.
Among these are the Thunderclap, a potent hammer dishing out electrical damage, and the equally formidable KM-4 Kuzmich Shotgun, boasting a double barrel and adjustable spread for its shots.
The Thunderclap, an electrifyingly powerful hammer, and the KM-4 Kuzmich Shotgun, a double-barreled weapon with adjustable shot distribution, are included in these.
Additional functions have been incorporated into your glove, enabling you to unleash fireballs for widespread damage using the ability called “Blaze”, and either escape swiftly or attract foes with the skill named “Whip”.
Additionally, you’ll encounter fresh adversaries such as the menacing Robo Girl and the elusive underwater aberration known as MOR-4Y.
Or
Apart from the usual suspects, you’ll have to deal with new threats like the formidable Robo Girl and the tricky sea mutant called MOR-4Y.
As per the creators, the extension provides approximately 5 to 6 hours of gaming experience. With the acquisition of the Atomic Pass, you will gain entry to the initial two Downloadable Content packs as well as future content releases.
So don’t miss out on Under the Sea and dive into the dystopian world of Atomic Heart.
