Disney’s Snow White Remake Banned in Lebanon Over Gal Gadot

A recent report from Deadline states that Disney’s Snow White remake has been prohibited in Lebanon because of Gal Gadot’s role in the movie.

Why is Snow White banned in Lebanon?

Based on the information from the report, the Israeli actress has been added to a blacklist by her home country. Consequently, Ahmad Hajjar, Minister of Interior for Lebanon, suggested that the movie be prohibited within the nation, as reported by An-Nahar newspaper. It’s important to note that this isn’t the first production featuring Gadot that has been restricted in Lebanon; previous films such as Wonder Woman and Death On The Nile have also faced bans in the country.

In addition to Gadot, the cast of Snow White also includes Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Andrew Burnap portraying Jonathan, and Martin Klebba as Grumpy. This film is directed and produced by Marc Webb, with a screenplay penned by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. The story and music have been expanded from the original, while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known for their work in La La Land and The Greatest Showman, have composed new songs for this adaptation.

The synopsis reveals that Disney’s Snow White is a live-action musical retelling of the 1937 film, offering a magical music experience. It revisits the ageless story with the cherished characters like Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.

This undertaking is one of the expanding collection of live-action ventures that Disney has planned, which also features Moana, Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Bambi on their schedule.
