Disney's Frozen 3 will get a Thanksgiving theatrical date in 2027

As a gamer with a heart that beats for Disney movies, I must admit, the wait for Frozen 3 feels like an eternity! Having grown up with Anna and Elsa, watching their journey unfold on screen felt like a magical adventure that I never wanted to let go of. The news of the third installment being delayed by a year was certainly a blow, but three more years? That’s a whole level in my gaming world!

At the D23 Expo held from August 9-11, Disney enthusiasts got a sneak peek at upcoming movies over the coming years. One of these was “Frozen 3”, set to continue the storyline of the beloved franchise. Yet, it’s going to take some time before we reunite with sisters Anna and Elsa, along with their snowman companion Olaf, as Disney has not yet disclosed the release date for this sequel.

At D23, the director of “Frozen,” Jennifer Lee, announced that the third movie of the franchise has been pushed back from its original 2026 release to 2027.

In April of 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed plans for a third Frozen movie. Later in November, he made another announcement on ABC’s Good Morning America about a fourth film. These upcoming films will aim to address the questions that remained unanswered after the release of Frozen 2 in 2019.

While we don’t know the premiere date of Frozen 4, we do know the drop for Frozen 3!

Instead, they were given a glimpse, as concept art showcasing Elsa, Anna, and Olaf on horseback under a Norwegian sunset was revealed. While we don’t know much more yet, as the storylines are still under wraps and won’t be shared until closer to the release of “Frozen 3.”

The two movies titled “Frozen” and “Frozen 2” turned out to be massive hits at the box office, earning a staggering $3 billion worldwide. These films were honored with Academy Awards in the categories of “Best Animated Feature” and “Best Original Song.” Notably, “Frozen 2” was the one to win the award for “Best Original Song.”
