A hacking group called Nullbulge has come out and taken responsibility for the cybercrime.

According to The Wall Street Journal’s report, Nullbulge successfully gained access to Disney’s Slack channels, collecting information from approximately 10,000 different groups. On their website, they posted the stolen data along with a message boasting, “Discover unreleased projects, raw images and code, some login credentials, links to internal APIs/web pages, and much more! Enjoy exploring it; there’s a lot to find.”

The Wall Street Journal revealed that leaked data from 2019, obtained by Nullbulge, included confidential messages about Disney’s internal operations. Nullbulge explained their motivation, explaining they targeted Disney due to its handling of artist contracts, its attitude towards AI, and its apparent disregard for consumers.

Along with the hack, the group posted a cautionary message on their site. “Treat all your personal information as if it’s at risk – logins, credit card details, even your Social Security number – this is a heads-up for everyone,” their statement advised.

According to news sources, Nullbulge successfully gained access to a manager’s computer in Disney’s software development department, allowing them to obtain “as many messages and files as they could.” (Deadline)

Disney has remained silent about the hacking scandal, but they have communicated privately with various news outlets, stating, “Disney is looking into this situation.”
