Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Are Getting Streaming Price Hikes This October

As a long-time subscriber to these streaming services, I must say, it seems like my wallet is about to take another hit come October. It feels like just yesterday when I was still adjusting to the last price hike, and now we’re looking at yet another round of increases.

Price hikes are coming to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ this October.

Following an increase in prices during fall 2023, Disney has declared that they will hike up the cost of several Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ subscription plans again. This price adjustment is set to take place on October 17, 2024.

What are the new Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ prices?

By the specified deadline, the monthly price for the Disney+ subscription with ads will increase from $7.99 to $9.99, and the cost of the ad-free plan will climb from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that my Hulu subscription cost is on the rise. The plan with ads, which was previously $7.99, is now bumping up to $9.99 per month. And if I want an ad-free experience, I’ll have to shell out more too – the price for that plan has gone from $17.99 to $18.99 monthly.

Simultaneously, the monthly price for the Disney+ and Hulu Duo Basic package will go up by a dollar, amounting to $10.99, whereas the Duo Premium plan continues unchanged at $19.99 per month.

The ESPN+ plan with ads is also increasing by one dollar to $11.99 a month.

The monthly price for Hulu+ Live TV increases from $76.99 to $82.99, and the cost for the ad-free plan goes up from $89.99 to $95.99. In simpler terms, you’ll be paying $6 more for Hulu+ Live TV, and $6 more for the ad-free plan on a monthly basis.

In conclusion, the combined package of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ is set to rise by a couple of dollars. This means that the standard plan will cost you $16.99 per month, while the premium plan will now be priced at $26.99 per month.

Disney has revealed that it will introduce continuous playlists on its streaming service, Disney+, for U.S. users starting this September. This update includes two offerings: ABC News Live and a preschool-focused playlist. The ABC News Live channel will stream 24/7 live news coverage and breaking stories, while the preschool playlist will offer series and shorts like The Lion Guard, Puppy Dog Pals, and others.

Four other curated playlists will be unveiled later this fall.

Disney’s Alisa Bowen stated, “Playlists are our way of ensuring top-notch quality and enjoyment for our subscribers each time they log into Disney+. These playlists cater to a variety of tastes, including news, children’s content, popular genres, acclaimed TV series, and blockbuster movies. Our lean-back viewing experience is tailored according to the seasons and individual interests.”
