Discord co-founder Jason Citron resigns as CEO

This week, there are significant shifts in leadership at Discord. Since its inception, co-founder Jason Citron has been leading the social platform as CEO. However, he is stepping down from his role at the end of this month. From April 28, 2025, Humam Sakhnini, previously a vice chairman at Activision Blizzard, will take over the leadership responsibilities. Jason Citron will continue to serve on Discord’s Board of Directors and offer guidance to his successor, Mr. Sakhnini.

This week, Discord revealed upcoming changes in a public communication penned by Citron. In the message, Citron specified that Humam Sakhnini will commence his tenure as CEO on a particular date and provided reasons for this transition.

Discord, which is widely recognized and expanding rapidly, can now be found on various platforms such as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The company is reportedly gearing up for an Initial Public Offering (IPO), although the exact timing remains unclear. A shift in leadership at the CEO level adds intrigue to Discord’s ongoing journey as it maintains its relevance in gaming and social communities.

As Human Sakhnini assumes the role of CEO starting April 28, keep an eye on our Discord channel at Shacknews for any upcoming news and coverage.
