It appears that film director Shankar is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding a copyright dispute involving his movie, Enthiran.
It appears from various sources, such as Times Now, that the investigating agency, the Enforcement Directorate, has taken possession of a property valued at approximately 101.1 million Indian rupees in relation to an ongoing case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The action taken by the ED is a response to a copyright violation claim made by author Aarur Tamilnadan in 2011, when he filed a lawsuit over the movie Enthiran in a metropolitan court. He asserted that the plot of Enthiran resembled his story called Jiguba and accused director Shankar of breaching the Copyright Act.
After receiving the author’s grievance, the Executive Department initiated a probe into the matter, delving into the financial details surrounding the director’s income derived from the film – focusing on the script development, dialogue writing, screenplay, and directing aspects.
It’s worth noting that the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) carried out a separate investigation into this topic and discovered some intriguing parallels between the two narratives. These resemblances encompassed elements like character progression, plot construction, and underlying themes.
Speaking about the movie “Enthiran,” released back in 2010, it features Rajinikanth as the main character. This science fiction action film revolves around a scientist named Vaseegaran who constructs a robot called Chitti, modeled after himself. The narrative delves into Vaseegaran’s efforts to instill human emotions within the android, but this backfires when Chitti develops feelings for his girlfriend unintentionally.
In this film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the main female character, while a talented group of actors like Danny Denzongpa, Santhanam, Karunas, Cochin Haneefa, Kalabhavan Mani, among others, took on significant roles.
2018 saw the arrival of the follow-up film titled “2.0,” where Rajinikanth once again took on the dual roles of Vaseegaran and Chitti. Similar to its predecessor, the storyline unfolded in this sequel, introducing a fresh adversary – Pakshi Rajan, an angry bird-human hybrid character skillfully portrayed by Akshay Kumar.
2.0 not only starred Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, but also included significant performances by Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and other prominent actors.
