As an avid cinephile with a penchant for Indian cinema, particularly Tamil films, I find myself utterly captivated by the intriguing behind-the-scenes details of Vada Chennai. The revelation that the director initially considered casting none other than Vijay Sethupathi and Ravi Teja for key roles in this masterpiece is nothing short of mind-boggling!

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always eager to share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories. Did you realize that when the critically acclaimed Indian gangster film, Vada Chennai, was being cast, the director originally intended to feature Vijay Sethupathi or Ravi Teja in significant roles? Yet, it was Dhanush who ultimately brought this masterpiece to life under the skilled direction of Vetrimaaran.

Indeed, it’s worth noting that originally, either Vijay or Ravi Teja were contemplated for the character of Rajan, but ultimately, Director Ameer took on the role himself. This fascinating tidbit was revealed by Director Ameer in a YouTube conversation with cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin during their chat back in 2021.

Discussing the original selections for the cast, Vetrimaaran shared that he initially spoke with Vijay Sethupathi about the movie. Impressed by the script, he showed interest but unfortunately, his shooting schedule conflicted with other obligations.

Additionally, it was the director who approached Ravi Teja, a popular Telugu actor, while he was filming in Pondicherry. Despite finding the script appealing, Ravi Teja unfortunately couldn’t take on the role because of his busy filming commitments at the time.

Later on, the director stated that they concluded that Ameer would be perfect for the part. At first, Ameer had consented to star in the film without having heard the plot, but Vetrimaaran persuaded him to listen to the storyline first.

Initially, Ameer inquired from director Vetrimaaran as to why he had selected him for the role. Vetrimaaran explained that Ameer seemed perfect for the part. Despite his initial reservations, Ameer eventually embraced the role, resulting in the memorable character we know today.

The movie titled “Vada Chennai,” released in 2018, is a crime drama starring Dhanush as the main character. This film, written and directed by Vetrimaaran, follows the tale of Anbu, an accomplished carrom player from North Chennai who finds himself unwillingly embroiled in a violent feud between two formidable gangs led by rival criminal masterminds.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement when I say that this movie was the inaugural chapter of an ambitious trilogy. It featured a stellar ensemble cast, including the talents of Kishore, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji, Pawan, Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Ameer – all in pivotal roles. Simply put, it was a star-studded production!
