2005 film “Ghajini,” starring Asin alongside Suriya, has been a lasting icon for multiple reasons. Interestingly, Suriya wasn’t the original choice for the lead role as director A.R. Murugadoss initially considered R. Madhavan for Ghajini. That’s correct! The producers first approached R. Madhavan before casting Suriya in the title role.
Instead, the actor decided against taking the part because he apparently had issues with the latter portion of the storyline. As reported by Galatta, R. Madhavan shared his reasons for turning down the movie during an online chat with Suriya, who later accepted the role instead.
He shared that he had been presented with a movie titled “Ghajini”. However, he turned down the opportunity because he wasn’t fond of the story. He communicated his reservations to director AR Murugadoss, expressing that the second part of the film didn’t resonate with him. Interestingly, that same story later reached you, and he expressed great joy upon watching it. Previously, he had seen you in “Kaakha Kaakha”, and he was pleased because he felt the role in Ghajini was perfectly cast, a sentiment you subsequently validated through your performance.
During the very same chat, Maddy brought up how incredibly dedicated Suriya was for the movie Ghajini, and she shared an astonishing detail: he abstained from eating salt for more than a week straight in order to attain the chiseled six-pack physique demanded by his role.
The Test Actor commented, “Your dedication to your role in the movie and attaining your six-pack abs left me questioning if I could match your effort. I clearly recall that you abstained from salt for almost a week to sculpt your physique, which in turn, made me feel less motivated about my own work.
To clarify, the original film was subsequently recreated in Hindi with the same name. Asin once again took on the role of the main female character, while Aamir Khan stepped into the male lead’s shoes. He gave an outstanding performance in this movie directed by AR Murugadoss.
