Did you know about THIS 50-year-old ICONIC connection of Rajinikanth with Holi?

For half a century, Rajinikanth has been an integral element of Indian cinema, taking on diverse roles ranging from secondary characters, villains, to primary heroes. Interestingly, the festival of Holi holds a personal relevance for him.

According to a previous post shared by her daughter and movie director, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, it’s known that the renowned actor received his name ‘Rajinikanth’ during the celebration of Holi in 1975.

Prior to the filming of Kamal Haasan’s movie Apoorva Raagangal, K. Balachander, the late director, renamed him from Shivaji Rao Gaikwad to this new name.

The first Tamil film featuring Rajinikanth was launched on August 15, 1975. This romantic drama tells the story of Prasanna, a young man who becomes smitten with an older woman named Bhairavi. Simultaneously, Ranjani, Bhairavi’s daughter, finds herself attracted to Mahendran, Prasanna’s father.

The main idea behind the film was influenced by a puzzle from the Indian folktale collection Vetala Panchavimshati, more commonly known as Vikram-Vetal. The enigma centers around a king who marries a woman while his son marries her mother, leading to a debate about family ties if these couples were to produce offspring. This intriguing concept served as the basis for the movie’s narrative.

In terms of his professional life, Rajinikanth recently appeared in the movie “Vettaiyan,” which was helmed by T.J. Gnanavel. His character in this film was an IPS officer who unintentionally came across the wrong criminal. This incident set him on a complex case that he had to solve while also modifying his approach throughout the process.

In the upcoming movie titled “Coolie,” the actor is all set to feature alongside Lokesh Kanagaraj as the director. This action-packed film also includes notable performances by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao, with Aamir Khan rumored to make a brief appearance.

Furthermore, Rajinikanth is set to return in the role he played in Jailer 2, which is the follow-up to Jailer. This movie is being helmed by director Nelson, and they started filming it earlier this month.
