“@cosmic_marvel shared on X (formerly Twitter) that it looks like Geraldine Viswanathan’s character in ‘THUNDERBOLTS*’ is sporting a Songbird locket.
In the process, Cy_clops posted a snapshot of Viswanathan from the trailer along with an illustration of Songbird from the comics. “Songbird? #Thunderbolts” was what they captioned it.
User @another_ted_2 reposted @cosmic_marvel’s message, expressing his surprise by saying, “Wow, SONGBIRD is being developed as an Marvel Cinematic Universe character in the upcoming THUNDERBOLTS film.
In the comic books, Songbird originally went by the name Screaming Mimi and was once a villain, but later became a hero. She possesses a variety of sound-related superpowers. As one of the founding members, she serves on the team known as the Thunderbolts.
In January 2025, during an interview with ScreenRant for the promotion of her film You’re Cordially Invited, Viswanathan was asked if she identified as a Songbird due to her singing a musical number in the movie.
Viswanathan evaded the question and replied that she wasn’t familiar with the topic being discussed during the interview. She said, “I’ve never heard anything like that before. Yes, indeed. Wow, you’ve managed to make me feel a bit jittery. In the movie ‘You’re Cordially Invited,’ I do sing a song, but I’m not a bird – that much is true.
In a conversation with her fellow actor, Meredith Hagner, the actress from Bad Education hinted that she’d share more details about their encounter at a later time.
Thunderbolts* premieres in US theaters on May 2, 2025.
