As a seasoned wrestling enthusiast with years of memories etched into my mind, I must say that the rivalry between Mercedes Mone (formerly Sasha Banks) and Charlotte Flair was one for the ages. Their electrifying encounters were always a highlight, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
On AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Mone, formerly Sasha Banks of WWE, subtly hinted at Charlotte Flair. Throughout their time together in WWE, they engaged in multiple matches like Falls Count Anywhere, Hell in a Cell, and WrestleMania, creating many unforgettable moments for fans.
Despite being in separate wrestling promotions right now, the intense rivalry between these two stars continues to be etched into our memory. Currently, Mercedes Mone is thriving in AEW, where she boasts both the AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Championships.
Since my unfortunate knee injury back in December 2023 during a WWE SmackDown match, I’ve been on the sidelines healing and recovering. The injury necessitated surgery to get me back in fighting shape.
In the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Mone stepped into the ring to protect her AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Championships against Emi Sakura. Prior to the match, Mone engaged in a backstage conversation with Renee Paquette. As Paquette discussed the upcoming fight, Mone used the moment to poke fun at WWE’s Charlotte Flair during their chat.
What did Mercedes Mone say about Charlotte Flair?
During the interview backstage, Mercedes Mone assertively declared that she had toppled a queen before, and this wasn’t her first time. At that instant, she was referring to Sakura, who also holds the same title. Yet, by mentioning her past victories against a queen, Mone subtly suggested her competitive relationship with Charlotte Flair, who is widely recognized as “The Queen” in WWE.
Tonight, the current TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Mercedes Varnado (also known as Ronda Rousey) shares a pre-match sentiment with her opponent Emi Sakura. In the last seconds of the match, Mercedes Mone seized the opportunity by pulling at the ring skirt, momentarily confusing the referee. During this distraction, she struck Sakura with a powerful kick, sending her sprawling into the ropes. This disruption allowed Kamille to trip up Sakura, setting the stage for Mone to apply the Statement Maker and secure the win.
